Seedy Cheese Crackers
Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 2 cups hard cheese (e.g., Parmesan, Cheddar, Gouda, Manchego, Gruyère, or Asiago), shredded
- 3 tablespoons seed mix (e.g., sesame seeds, flaxseeds, poppy seeds, or chia seeds)
- Optional toppings:
- Freshly cracked black pepper
- Everything But the Bagel seasoning
- Za’atar spice mix
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Spread the cheese: Evenly scatter the shredded cheese over the parchment paper, forming a thin, uniform layer. Ensure there are no large clumps for even baking.
- Add toppings: Sprinkle the seed mix over the cheese, ensuring it’s distributed evenly. If desired, add black pepper, Everything But the Bagel seasoning, or za’atar for extra flavor.
- Bake: Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and golden brown. Watch closely to avoid burning.
- Cool completely: Remove the tray from the oven and let the cheese cool on the baking sheet. As it cools, it will harden into a crisp sheet.
- Break into crackers: Once fully cooled, gently break the cheese sheet into cracker-sized pieces.
Tips
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Experiment with different cheese and seed combinations for unique flavor profiles.
